Vera Kallmeyer, M.D., Ph.D.

vera_kallmeyerDr. Vera Kallmeyer is a consulting professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford School of Medicine, where she teaches courses in biomedical innovation, translational medicine and entrepreneurship.  

She is the founder and managing partner of Equity4Health LLC, a financial advisory and investment firm, and of Veritas Venture Partners, an early stage venture fund, which pooled interests with Earlybird in 1999. Formerly, she was chief financial officer and vice president of corporate development at Aviron Inc. (now Medimmune/AstraZeneca), which she took public. In addition, she has experience in investment banking with Wasserstein Perella & Company and Flemings (now JPMorgan), as well as training in neurosurgery and cardiology.  

Dr. Kallmeyer serves on the board of several private and public companies. She is also a member of the Board of Visitors and Scientific Advisory Board of UC Davis Medical School.  

Of particular interest to her are issues related to the entrepreneurial process in academia and industry, ethics related to new inventions in the biomedical field and the convergence of biotechnology, and information technologies and the physical sciences.

Dr. Kallmeyer holds MD and PhD degrees from the Friedrich Alexander University in Erlagen, Germany. She also attended Harvard Medical School and the Royal Postgraduate School in London, and received an MBA and certificate in public management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
